a letter from: Ernie of Dec 11th, 2017
Dear Reader,
It has come to my attention that this document (my document with all my Ramblings posts) has become an annual realization. I remember the first time I drafted this document, it had been formed out of a sudden inspiration to expound upon my life. Ever since February of 2017, I had never thought of, edited, or read any of these excerpts. It is now almost exactly a year since then, and as fate would have it, I sit here on the third floor of Snell at 2:30 am in the morning, amazed by the level of aptitude and emotion these drafts exhibit. I am once again fueled by the flame to begin again.
I reflect and notice that while drafting up these excerpts, it was easy for me to doubt my capabilities and my ability to convey anything meaningful to my readers. But as I read through these half-written, half-polished drafts, I understand now that the skill or eloquence of my words are incomparable when it comes to my intent.
My intent for Ramblings was to record precious memories and experiences that have shaped who I have become and who I will be. My intent was to explore the everyday enigmas I faced as a curious human being living in this world. My intent was to inspire a passion to write and reflect on life’s many experiences for any reader who may lay eyes on my work; and by some miraculous force I believe I have done just that.
I don’t know when the next Ramblings inspiration wave will hit, but as of now on this day, December 11th, 2017, I am re-invested.
It doesn’t matter the consistency of which I write, but the intent and passion of when I do.
To all future Ernies who stumble upon this treasure: See you soon.
To myself as of now: Godspeed!
To readers who are not me: Thank you for being with me to witness the revival of my literary spirit. Writing has always been and always will be a silent passion of mine, and to have you stand along side me in my state of lucidity is truly a remarkable experience for the both of us.
Regular prompts and edit updates with date markers will be added to existing and new excerpts. I hope this standard will be kept throughout for all future Ernies.
With that being said, I leave with a heart re-ignited and a head buzzing with new thoughts.
Yours truly,
Ernie from December 11th, 2017
